To promote cultural and educational exchange between Shanghai and its international sister cities, especially to enhance friendship between teenagers from all over the world, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission would initiate a soft launch of “2021 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp”. The event is scheduled to be held online from July 18th to July 31st, 2021, and we would like to invite 10 high school students and 1 teacher from your city to participate.
“Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp”, initiated in 2009, has hosted more than 1000 students and teachers from 38 sister cities in 35 countries since 2009. We are grateful for the strong support from each international sister city. But due to the pandemic happened in 2020, “Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp” had to be postponed. This year, with the restart of Summer Camp in a virtual way, we look forward to continually hosting overseas teenagers to meet online and to promote communication and mutual understanding.
“2021 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp” will bring the participants an online city tour, and create a platform for Chinese language learning, Chinese traditional culture experience and communication forum. Shanghai Municipal Education Commission will provide the online login interface and relevant materials of the Camp for the invitees. As quoted by Chinese President Jinping Xi on the 15th G20 Leaders’ Summit last November, “Past a fallen ship, one thousand sail onward; for a sick tree, ten thousand thrive by spring.” He spoke of the determination to be recovered from the pandemic and the expectation for a brighter future.
Best regards.
